Experienced Invisalign Providers
Our dentists at NoFrills Dental have extensive experience with Invisalign. During your initial Invisalign consult, they’ll assess your suitability for Invisalign Treatment and answer all questions that you may have about Invisalign Treatment.
Invisalign Process
1. Initial Consultation
Once you and your dentist have decided on proceeding with Invisalign treatment, the process begins with you taking:
- X-rays of your teeth and jaws
- Photos of your facial profile and smile
- An impression mould or digital scan of your teeth
All this information will then be submitted to the Invisalign technical team for processing and creating a Clincheck treatment plan customised for you.
2. Clincheck Approval
After your dentist has reviewed and amended the initial proposed Clincheck treatment plan, you’ll be scheduled for a follow-up consultation to discuss the proposed Clincheck treatment plan.
Patients are highly recommended to discuss their Clincheck treatment plans with their dentist before approval. Changes can be made to the treatment plan at this point.
During this visit, patients share their concerns or questions that they may have before the aligners are fabricated.
3. Aligner Fabrication
After the confirmation of the Clincheck treatment plan by the patient, the Invisalign clear aligners will be manufactured at the Align Technology production facility in Mexico.
After these aligners have been fabricated, they’ll then be shipped over to our clinics in Singapore. This entire process usually takes about 2 weeks from the confirmation of your Clincheck treatment plan.
4. Aligner Fitting & Attachments
On your next visit, your dentist will place dental attachments on your teeth in accordance with the treatment plans. Attachments are small, tooth coloured studs which are glued onto your teeth to guide the direction of the force.
After which, we’ll issue a series of aligners with guidelines on how to properly wear, care and remove them. You will be given 2-3 sets of Invisalign aligners to wear till the next review about 6 weeks later. You will sequentially move up each pair of aligners till the next review with your dentist.
Each pair of aligners is usually worn for about 2 weeks before progressing to the next pair. Some clinics get their Invisalign patients started on Dental Monitoring, the A.I. tracking system that allows for an enhanced Invisalign Treatment journey.
This allows your dentist to track your Invisalign treatment in great detail through weekly photographs and an A.I. detection system that will alert your dentist in the event if any issues arise.
5. The Invisalign Journey
You will have to wear your aligners for 22 hours every day, and only remove them to brush, floss, or eat. Teeth will start moving gradually over time, and your dentist will monitor the progress as often as possible.
You’ll change your aligners once every 7 -10 days and visit your dentist for physical reviews once every 6 – 8 weeks.
During these physical reviews, your dentist will monitor your progress and address any potential oral health issues.
The entire Invisalign journey can take a year or up to 2 years for complex cases.
6. Finishing Treatment
At the end of Invisalign treatment, you’ll be able to show the world your brand new and improved smile.
You will then need to wear retainers to hold your teeth in place. This will prevent a relapse from occurring and allow the roots of your teeth to fuse to your jawbone, permanently locking them into place.
Patients are recommended to use their retainers every day for one year after completing their Invisalign treatment to expedite the fusing process.

With this intraoral scan, our dentists will present a simulated outcome of the patient’s smile AFTER COMPLETING Invisalign treatment through the use of A.I. powered diagnostics within the iTero Elements 2. This simulated outcome is an A.I. generated simulation drawing upon the database of over 6 million smiles that the Invisalign system has treated globally.

Invisalign Plans Available in Singapore
Depending on the complexity of your case, your dentist will select one of four Invisalign plans available to best treat your case. On average, each Invisalign aligner can achieve up to 0.25mm of tooth movement. As such, complex cases that require more tooth movement, will result in the need for more aligners to achieve an ideal smile. In such cases, the dentist will typically opt for the Comprehensive or Moderate package.
The Invisalign Moderate plan is suitable for cases which are classified as moderately complex, i.e. not highly complex or difficult to treat. The moderate plan involves up to 26 sets of Invisalign aligners and is generally only recommended when your Invisalign accredited dentist is confident in achieving your perfect & ideal smile within the 26 sets of aligners. |
The Invisalign Lite plan only involves up to 14 sets of Invisalign aligners. This plan is suitable for patients who are suffering from mild cases of crowding, spacing and misalignments that do not require extractions. However, due to the limitations in the number of clear aligners available under the Lite plan, patients who are more aesthetically driven, would benefit more by going for the Invisalign Moderate plan as it allows for more aligners. This would allow the dentist to make finer adjustments at the later stages of treatment to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing final outcome. |
The Invisalign Express plan is generally designed for cases that require very little & minor movements or for relapse cases in patients who have had prior orthodontic treatment in the past. The Express plan only involves up to 7 sets of aligners in total. |
Full Comprehensive
The Invisalign Comprehensive plan is also commonly known and the ‘Full’ Invisalign treatment. This plan is designed for patients who require a greater & significant amount of teeth movement to achieve their ideal smile.
The comprehensive plan is catered to patients who suffer from complex crowding, spacing and misalignments. This plan provides the dentist and patient with as many aligners as needed to achieve the end goal of an ideal smile.
Moderate
The Invisalign Moderate plan is suitable for cases that are classified as moderately complex, i.e. not highly complex or difficult to treat.
The moderate plan involves up to 26 sets of Invisalign aligners and is generally only recommended when your Invisalign accredited dentist is confident in achieving your perfect & ideal smile within the 26 sets of aligners.
Lite
The Invisalign Lite plan only involves up to 14 sets of Invisalign aligners. This plan is suitable for patients who are suffering from mild cases of crowding, spacing and misalignments that do not require extractions.
Express
The Invisalign Express plan is generally designed for cases that require very little & minor movements or for relapse cases in patients who have had prior orthodontic treatment in the past.
The Express plan only involves up to 7 sets of aligners in total.
*Based on the complexity of teeth condition, a suitable Invisalign treatment plan will be recommended by your dentist.
FAQs About Invisalign
Here are some of the commonly asked questions that our Invisalign accredited dentists get from patients.
Invisalign vs braces | What's the difference?
Invisalign and Braces are both forms of orthodontic treatment catered towards providing patients with a newer and straighter set of teeth. There are several similarities, differences between the two systems.
You can check out our dedicated article on Invisalign vs Braces treatment to understand more about the pros and cons of each system.
When will I be able to resume my normal daily activities?
You can resume your normal daily activities right after the treatment without pain or much discomfort.
Speech may be affected initially as some patients take a day or two to get used to the aligners in the mouth. The Invisalign clear aligners are generally more comfortable than conventional braces.
You may experience a general feeling of tightness as teeth are being shifted. The edges of the aligner should not cut you. If they do, please inform our dentist.
Can I remove my Invisalign clear aligners?
Yes absolutely! One of the main benefits of Invisalign treatment is the convenience of removing the clear aligners whenever you want.
You can still enjoy all your favourite foods and brush and floss normally. Generally, we advise our patients to only remove their Invisalign clear aligners for up to 2 hours each day, to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
Although Invisalign clear aligners are fully removable, patients will need to wear their aligners for 22 hours a day to ensure that the aligners work as they’re intended to.
Patient compliance when it comes to aligner wear is a key factor when it comes to the overall success of Invisalign treatment as the aligners will only work when they’re worn for the correct amount of hours each day as instructed by your dentist.
Are there any clear aligner alternatives to Invisalign treatment available?
Yes! There are clear aligner alternatives to Invisalign treatment available in Singapore. At NoFrills Dental, we offer patients Invisalign, ClearCorrect and Zenyum, when it comes to Invisalign alternatives. We have a separate article on Invisalign alternatives that you can take a look at.
If you’d like to understand the differences between Invisalign and ClearCorrect clear aligners – check out our other article that dives deep into the topic.
What retainer options do I have after Invisalign treatment?
Retainers are an essential portion of any orthodontic treatment. Retainers hold newly shifted teeth in place by preventing teeth from relapsing.
There are 2 main types of retainers available after Invisalign treatment; fixed/permanent retainers and removable retainers. Depending on your dental needs, requirements and lifestyle. Your dentist will recommend the retainers for you.
How often will I need to change my Invisalign clear aligners?
Are there any age restrictions for Invisalign treatment?
Generally speaking, there aren’t any age restrictions when it comes to Invisalign treatment.
The Invisalign system is an ideal solution for patients of all ages (children, teens, and adults) who are looking to get their teeth straightened discreetly.
The only caveat when it comes to Invisalign treatment is the patient compliance necessary regarding the wearing of aligners. Patients who undergo Invisalign treatment must wear their aligners for 22 hours every single day throughout the entire treatment process for the aligners to work effectively.
Although the Invisalign system can treat patients of all ages, our dentists usually recommend conventional braces instead of Invisalign for patients who are unable to wear the aligners as instructed. Alternatively, an ‘aligner wear’ indicator dot can be specially placed on teen aligners, for parents to ensure that their child is wearing their aligners for enough hours every day.
Moreover, there is an Invisalign system that’s specially designed for children under the age of 12 to help improve their smiles as they grow. This system is called Invisalign First.
Do I need to extract my teeth for Invisalign treatment?
Tooth extractions are typically only needed in cases where there is severe crowding of teeth. Generally, our dentists typically avoid extractions unless it’s absolutely necessary, or in cases where extraction will provide patients with a significantly better final result. Our dentists will advise you accordingly based on your needs and requirements during your initial consultation.
Do I need to remove my wisdom teeth before starting Invisalign treatment?
The removal of wisdom teeth is highly dependant on the current condition of your teeth and the treatment plan laid out by your dentist. Some patients may require a wisdom tooth removal when their wisdom teeth have become impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain, oral health problems and even obstruct the movement of teeth if not removed.
Alternatively, patients who have fully erupted and well-positioned wisdom teeth will not need to have them removed. In some cases, wisdom teeth may even be used as an anchor to help align other teeth during the course of Invisalign treatment.
How long will the entire Invisalign treatment take?
How do I properly care for my Invisalign clear aligners
Make sure to take care of your aligners and they’ll take care of you.
- Brush your aligners with a toothbrush followed by rinsing with cool water
- Use denture cleaner tablets such as Polident and Brite
- Use an ultrasonic cleaning machine; soak the aligner in the machine for 3 minutes.
You should always aim to clean your aligners at least twice a day for hygiene reasons.
- Do not soak the aligners in hot water as it will cause the plastic to distort.
- Always carry the containers with you. Keep your aligners in their containers when not in use to prevent losing them, breaking them and from distortion.
We have a dedicated article that dives deep into the daily routines that our dentists recommend our patients follow in order to optimise their Invisalign journey.
Can I get all of my Invisalign clear aligners at once?
You’ll be provided with enough aligners to last between visits to your doctor (usually 3-4 sets at a time). Your doctor will review your progress every 6-8 weeks and new aligners will be given to you at these appointments. It’s best to speak to your doctor about how many aligners you will be provided with between visits.
I think my case is quite complex, am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign has the ability to effectively address a wide range of orthodontic issues such as – Spacing (such as diastema), Crossbite, Open Bite, Crowding, Excessive Overjet and Deep Bite.
Invisalign can address complex cases as well. However, depending on the severity of the case, conventional braces may be a more suitable option as it provides dentists more flexibility in controlling the movement of teeth at every stage of your treatment.
In order to check your suitability for Invisalign treatment, please consult one of our Invisalign accredited dentist for a proper Invisalign assessment.
How often will I need to see the dentist while on Invisalign?
Our dentists prefer to schedule patients for a physical review once every 6-8 weeks, depending on the patient’s progress, case complexity, and compliance with their dentists’ instructions. These physical checkups are done to ensure teeth are moving as intended and to address any potential oral health issues.
Alternatively, patients who have opted for the Dental Monitoring system are generally only asked to come in for visits once every 8 – 10 weeks. As the Dental Monitoring system will allow our dentists to track your progress through the A.I. powered system.
Can I still undergo Invisalign treatment if I have a dental crown/implant/bridge
For patients who have had dental crowns/implants/bridges done. Invisalign treatment may still be possible, but it depends on the amount of restorative dentistry that’s already been done and the complexity of the case.
It would be best for you to speak to one of our Invisalign accredited dentists to better understand your suitability for Invisalign treatment. Alternatively, our dentists may recommend other treatment options that may better suit your needs and requirements.
Does Invisalign hurt?
When done correctly, Invisalign treatment should not cause patients to suffer any severe pains. However, it should be noted that there might be some discomfort during the course of the treatment. As such, minor discomfort is to be expected by patients that are undergoing Invisalign treatment.
We’ve got a separate article that dives deep into the topic of Invisalign pain – read more.

Effective ways to clean your Invisalign Aligners
The advanced technology of Invisalign aligners has made them a hugely popular alternative to braces for straightening teeth, among teens and adults alike.
These clear plastic appliances are more comfortable and virtually unnoticeable in the mouth, and have the further advantage of removability for brushing and flossing and meals and snacks. And they can fix less complex orthodontic problems up to twice as fast as braces.
How to Clean Retainers: For Removable and Permanent Retainers
Retainers sit inside of your mouth and come into direct contact with your teeth. Bacteria, plaque and tartar can quickly accumulate inside of your retainers if they’re not cleaned properly and regularly. Just like your regular teeth, it’s important to clean your retainers everyday.
ClearCorrect vs Invisalign
In this article, we compare two popular clear aligner companies: Invisalign and ClearCorrect. They are two of the most renown in-office clear aligner companies that boast a strong track record of results. Both sets of aligners aim to straighten misaligned teeth and correct jaw discrepancies, however, the process to getting to an ideal end result (i.e., straight teeth and aligned jaws) varies slightly.
